Pretty Little Liars

"Three may keep a secret, if two of them are dead."
             -Benjamin Franklin

I have just finished reading the first book of the Pretty Little Liars series by Sara Shepard. It starts off with five best friends who everyone envies. Aria Montgomery, Spencer Hastings, Emily Fields, Hanna Marin, and Alison DiLaurentis, were the 'it' group. Ali was the girl that held all the girls secrets, and thought that brought them together. She even knew secrets that the other girls didn't know. But something happens during a sleepover in the seventh grade. Ali disappears after a fight with one of her best friends, with nowhere to be found.

After a couple years of mourning and missing, the four girls return at Rosewood Day as juniors. But they aren't the 'it' group anymore. In fact, they barely notice each others presence. They are all brought together after receiving anonymous notes that is from a secret sender who goes by -A.  These messages contain things that the girls have experienced together, like the 'Jenna Thing', or more personal things that the girls didn't question once Ali was gone.

Read the book to find out more about the thrilling adventures that the Liars experience together. To find out if they uncover the secret about who -A is. Hope you enjoy!

Labor of Love

This week was romance week. I read a series of books that were romance novels. The first one was Labor of Love by Rachel Hawthorne.

How do you repair a broken heart- especially when you were cheated on?

Maybe, it was a summer away rebuilding a house in New Orleans. Maybe it was, until Dawn, and her two friends, Jenna and Amber, visited a psychic.

The psychic told Dawn there was a man with a Kansas City Chiefs hat and a really nice smile, in her future.

Later that day, in a bakery, guess who they run into? A man with a Kansas City Chiefs hat and a really nice smile. The girls talk, excitedly, about him, then end up leaving the shop. But later, they run into him again in a restaurant.

Could it be fate?

Read Rachel Hawthorne's book, Labor of Love, to find out what happens to Dawn and the mysterious man in the Kansas City Chiefs hat, and the really nice smile.

Rules

Rules is a realistic fiction book by Cynthia Lord. The main character, Catherine, just wants a normal life without having to deal with her autistic brother, David. All her family does, is revolve around his disability. She makes him rules to avoid his embarrassing behaviors, which don't really help. In the summer, Catherine meets two new friends. One at David's clinic, Jason, who is also disabled, and a surprising sort of friend, and Kristi. The next-door friend she's always been waiting for. After everything has happened, Catherine is forced to ask herself the question- what is normal?

Falling from Fire

Today I read Falling From Fire by Teena Booth. Falling From Fire is categorized as a realistic fiction book, but it could also be categorized as a mystery. Not a murder kind of mystery, but a problem-solving kind of mystery. The main character, Teri, thinks that she is a nobody at her school, and only has one "real" friend. Wesley,  the rumpled, eccentric Wesley. On March 15, Teri's birthday, everything goes downhill. Her mother has a new boyfriend, and she doesn't even realize it's Teri's birthday. She leaves town, leaving the kids on their own. Teri's grandmother comes, wishes her a happy birthday and lights a cake, then goes. Teri goes back to make a wish re-liting the candles, and burning away their home forever. After the fire, Teri realizes what she really wants, and starts putting her life back together.
